Heroes to Heroes: Championing Wellness and Appreciation for CMPD During Police Week

Police Week is a time to reflect, honor, and celebrate the brave men and women who serve our communities with courage and commitment. For the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, this year’s Police Week was more than just a tradition—it was a heartfelt tribute to over 2,000 CMPD employees, made possible by the generous support of Heroes to Heroes.

As a proud sponsor, Heroes to Heroes stepped up in a big way, helping to fund and fuel a full week of appreciation and connection. From sunrise to sunset, officers and civilian staff alike were invited to take part in a series of thoughtfully planned activities designed to promote wellness, build camaraderie, and celebrate the people behind the badge.

The week kicked off with food trucks serving up meals to hundreds of employees across divisions, offering a break from the usual routine and a chance to gather and connect. From there, the momentum only grew:

  • Award ceremonies that recognized dedication and excellence
  • Fishing tournaments and field day that gave employees space to relax and recharge
  • Massages and coffee stations that reminded them it’s okay to take a moment for themselves
  • And carefully curated décor and gifts, adding warmth and appreciation to every corner of the department

What made all of this possible was Heroes to Heroes’ understanding that employee wellness isn’t a luxury—it’s essential. When officers feel valued and supported, it directly impacts morale, retention, and long-term engagement. Heroes to Heroes recognized that behind every uniform is a human being who needs time to decompress, reconnect, and feel appreciated.

The sponsorship also enabled outreach to those on 2nd and 3rd shifts—ensuring no one was left out, no matter the hour. It’s this level of thoughtfulness and inclusion that turned Police Week into more than just a celebration—it became a wellness initiative, a team-building experience, and a public thank-you all rolled into one.

CMPD leadership shared that this year’s Police Week saw record participation and engagement, with employees expressing how deeply the effort was felt across the department. Officers spoke of feeling “seen,” “uplifted,” and “recharged”—a testament to the positive impact that corporate and community partnerships can have when values are aligned.

Thanks to Heroes to Heroes, CMPD’s Police Week reminded every officer and staff member that their hard work does not go unnoticed. The message was clear: “You matter. We see you. We thank you.”

And sometimes, that message can mean the world.
