Deputy Chief Zeru Chickoree brings over 25 years of distinguished service to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. A proud member of the 129th Recruit Class, he has led numerous high-impact initiatives in training, recruitment, and officer wellness. From tactical operations and academy instruction to divisional leadership, his experience is vast and varied. He currently oversees the Learning and Wellness Service Group, where his visionary efforts have expanded wellness programs and boosted diversity in recruitment. Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, Deputy Chief Chickoree holds a bachelor’s degree from UNC Charlotte and has earned multiple awards for excellence and valor.
